This is a very healthy version of an amazing Indian classic that is also easily customizeable. And everytime we make it we can't imagine wanting to eat anything else. Goes well with naan and is improved with homemade paneer.
Put all of the sauce paste ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
In a large pot, saute the cumin seeds in the ghee. When the seeds are brown, add the sauce paste. Let simmer for 10 minutes. You'll probably need to add some water and keep a lid on the pot to keep sauce from spattering everywhere.
Add the turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, salt, peas, and paneer. Add enough water for the peas to cook. Let simmer until done.
Serve over basmati rice, and (optional but strongly recommended) naan.
